Skyedge II Aries: Modem For Gilat Satellite Networks

A New Generation of Satellite Network Devices

The main objective of the design was to create a clean and simple product that optimizes heat dissipation while hiding the ventilation openings. Trim Industrial Design achieved this by employing a design language without draft angles, where everything intersects at 90°. This integration of louvers and LED lights into a simple geometric pattern not only enhances the modem's aesthetics but also maximizes heat dissipation.

The “Skyedge II Aries” modem measures 200 mm x 180 mm x 33 mm, making it compact and space-efficient. Its simple and precise form allows it to blend seamlessly into any architectural environment, adding a touch of sophistication to any space.

The modem is made using high-quality plastic injection molding, ensuring durability and a refined finish. This production technique allows for the creation of intricate details and precise geometries, further enhancing the modem's overall design.

Trim Industrial Design, led by Gustavo Turkieltaub and Andres Wainstein, worked on the “Skyedge II Aries” project from July 2011 to February 2012. Their attention to detail and commitment to creating a functional and visually appealing modem resulted in a design that stands out in the satellite communication industry.

The “Skyedge II Aries” modem has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2012. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life. The modem's innovative features and sleek design make it a valuable addition to the world of satellite network devices.
